Lygon was nominated in
2003 for “Best Instrumentalist, Contemporary Folk” by the Washington
Area Music Association. A guitarist for almost 30 years, he honed
his craft studying with legendary players like Al Petteway, Duck
Baker and Michael Fath. Of his pupil, Fath has readily cited Lygon’s
“Compelling technique and compositional prowess”. Pat Staton of WAGE
said of Lygon “The guitar rings true”.
As well as a talented soloist, Lygon has been in demand as a
sideman, including a fruitful stint with alt folk-rockers Cerulean
Groove (the brain child of disappear fear’s drummer Laura Cerulli).
He has both recorded with and appeared live with Darcy Nair (Pyrate’s
Royale). For Greg Vickers’ project, “Not Quite There”, Lygon handled
both recording engineer and bass player duties.
Lygon’s experience in worship bands like Cross View from Mountain
View Community Church as well special guest appearances make his
music perfect for special music at church services or religious
coffee houses. Lygon is an entertainer equally at home in house
concerts or festivals . . . anywhere audiences appreciate good
acoustic music.
Lygon’s latest CD is “The Most Lucid Moments”, a compelling follow
up to the critically acclaimed “UnEarthly Passions”, hailed by the
Alexandria Old Town Crier as boasting “music and lyrics that will
bring you to your knees”.
